From the Frontline to the Finish Line

In this episode of Talk Canicross, we speak with Emma Duckworth, a former British Army soldier who shares her powerful journey from military life and PTSD to healing through Canicross with her rescue dog, Maya.

Emma opens up about the challenges she faced after being medically discharged from the Army and how discovering Canicross transformed her mental health, rebuilt her confidence, and introduced her to a supportive community. She also shares how Maya — a husky-German shepherd mix with a tough past — became her “soul dog” and running partner.

Together, they've not only found purpose and connection but are now taking on races, including Emma’s upcoming Manchester Marathon, where she’s raising funds for the Thin Blue Paw Foundation.

We also mention about Strength Training for Canicrossers and you can find that video here.

This episode is a heartfelt reminder of the incredible bond between human and dog — and how Canicross can help you find your tribe, your strength, and your joy.
